Welcome to Trade Up Tuesday, a great day here at A Better Bag of Groceries! Every Tuesday, I blog about a trade up I’ve made since learning about NuVal scores and I give away something for free. This week, I’m talking about granola because it seems to be taking up permanent residency in our kitchen pantry.
As a former Weight Watcher, I think I have some version of the Weight Watchers Points system permanently hard-wired into my brain. That means I know that a one cup serving of granola can pack a lot of calories. So, I’ve shied away from it for many years. I would only eat it in small amounts, maybe mixed into some yogurt or sprinkled on top of something, never as a main course. It just was not one of my Go To foods. But NuVal has helped me to find some high-scoring granolas. And my husband is a fan.
Most recently, you might remember that our whole family tried Chappaqua Crunch granola as part of our New Food Challenge, so now the kids are loving granola too.
I think the thing to keep in mind is that most of the time, the serving size for granola is only 1/4 cup or 1/3 cup. So, your bowl should look something like this:

I’m hosting a Bonus Giveaway today!
Katie McKenna, who manages public relations for Tops Friendly Markets in New York, sent me these two beautiful reusable shopping bags to give away to one lucky A Better Bag of Groceries reader.
Here is a side view of one of the bags:
We have been very excited about these bags in the NuVal office. When I was setting these bags up on Friday to take this photo, my colleague Anne walked by. Anne is a very serious, “numbers and data” kind of girl. And even she said, “Oh, those are the most beautiful bags!” But we at NuVal can’t take the credit. It was the team at Tops Friendly Markets who was the pure genious behind this one!

Surprise! Today I am hosting a CSN Stores Giveaway! That’s right – the kind folks over at CSN Stores reached out to me and asked me if I would like to host another gift card giveaway. Actually, they gave me a choice. I could review a product (and keep it for myself!) or I could host a giveaway and give a $50 gift card to one of my lucky readers. Not that I couldn’t have used a little bling myself. <Sigh> I mean, my husband, is definitely in need of a new laptop messenger bag. His old one is falling apart. He would love this one!
