Hi, my name is Monte Meyer, from Mankato Minnesota.  I am so excited to be a part of “A Better Bag of Groceries.”   Some of you who are long-time readers of this blog might remember when Melissa interviewed me a couple years ago.  Why?  Well, I’ve been on a long, long journey to save my life, covering over 3 yrs and around 240 lbs.

This is what I used to weigh, back in 2009 – tipping the scales at close to 600 lbs:

When this picture was taken, I had what I call, “A come to Jesus” moment, which forced me to make a decision on my life and health. I was fat, miserable and in pain in so many ways.  Do I want to live this way for the rest of my life?   Through miraculous intervention, the help of a register Dietician, a great doctor and a butt-kicking personal trainer I nicknamed “Helga” – I was able to lose an enormous amount of weight, but even better, change my life forever.  And I did it through diet and exercise.  No surgery.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m far from a finished product.  Life has it’s ups and downs.  I struggle with the emotional side of eating.  My journey is not complete.  I’m going to share some of my struggles, and work with you to find solutions.  Along the way, I also want to share some insights into healthy eating, working out (I love Cross-Fit), and how NuVal has impacted my healthy eating transformation.

If you would like to preview a little bit more about my journey, here is a news piece a Twin Cities station did about my weight loss a couple years ago.

In addition, if you would like to get a flavor of some of my public speaking, here is a recent presentation at the Mankato Men’s Health Forum, where I got the privilege to speak on the same venue as “The Biggest Loser” O’Neal Hampton.

I look forward to to getting to know you better and share with you my insights on this life long journey to health.  As we go along, if there is anything you would like me to address, please feel free to share it on the comment section!   This is going to be FUN!!
