Trade-Up Tuesday: Stuff to Sprinkle Giveaway

Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 07:01 AM

Welcome to Trade Up Tuesday! It’s a great day here at A Better Bag of Groceries because there is a giveaway at the end of this blog post!  Today I’ve gathered some of my favorite things to sprinkle.  You know – sprinkle a little bit of this on top of yogurt, a little bit of that into a smoothie – and more of that into my oatmeal.  NuVal has opened my eyes to so many new things.

Here are just a few:

  • Bear Naked Fit Granola: NuVal score of 91

My husband loves to sprinkle this on top of his Greek yogurt.  Love that score.

  • Mother’s Wheat Germ:  NuVal score of 100

We haven’t explored wheat germ too much yet.  But this NuVal score of 100 caught my eye last week!  My mom put wheat germ in everything when we were growing up!

  • Alpen No Sugar Added All Natural Muesli: NuVal score of 81

I love to eat muesli as a cereal with milk.  But I also love it sprinkled on top of yogurt or mixed into my oatmeal to give it some crunch.

  • Carrington Farms Organic Milled Flax Seeds: NuVal score of 91

I love a little flax seed in my smoothies.  I also love it on top of my hot cereal.

Aren’t those scores fantastic?  Sprinkling is a way to make your already high-scoring food (like non-fat plain Greek yogurt, NuVal score of 93) score even higher.

Even

Even the Mother’s Wheat Germ jar suggests sprinkling.  Look at all the foods they suggest you sprinkle wheat germ on:

  • hot or cold cereal
  • yogurt
  • cottage cheese
  • soup
  • salad
  • vegetables
  • fruit
  • macaroni & cheese
  • baked, scalloped or au gratin potatoes

Today’s Giveaway

One lucky commenter will win today’s Sprinkling Giveaway.  All you need to do is leave a comment below and tell me what you would like to sprinkle the most – and what you would sprinkle it on.  I’ll choose one lucky winner at 8 am EST on Wednesday February 22nd.  Good Luck!

I like to top yogurt with Kashi Granola, it really makes it more filling and adds sweetness to plain yogurt.

I would sprinkle the granola in my Greek yogurt. I love that it changes up the flavor and texture. I usually sprinkle flax meal in my oatmeal for added nutrients without altering the flavor/texture. I really want to try wheat germ though!

I am SO excited to see the Bear Naked Fit on there because I put that on my Stonyfield Banilla all the time AND on my Oikos Greek Yogurt!!!! I had no clue it was that great. I’ll be buying it more often. I used to limit it because of the idea of granola being so “bad” for you when most think it’s good. I’m so happy!!!! You made my day!
